Mrs Meldon is entertaining her usual party for the Christmas week – the pleasure is not, however, unalloyed. With the difficult Aunt Topsey and easily offended Uncle Ned among the invited guests, the Yuletide celebrations are likely to be anything but festive. Throw in an unexpected visitor and a love triangle involving Mrs Meldon's two daughters and Tony Martley, a young artist, and the stage is set for a Christmas comedy full of drama.What happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behaviour of their children? Perhaps you'd imagine a calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly? – you'd be wrong! What ensues is a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime. Boys will be boys, but the adults are usually worse – much worse.
