1 Day Slip Casting & Surface Decoration Pottery Workshop

Learn how to slip cast in porcelain and decorate your pieces on this hands-on pottery workshop with ceramic designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent.

During this 1 day workshop you will spend the morning learning the process of slip casting using plaster moulds to cast your own Stem Vase, tealight holder/ pen pot or planter pot and small tealight holder/plant pot in porcelain. You will have the opportunity to cast 3 pieces.

After a lunch break you will then spend a relaxing afternoon learning how to decorate your casted pieces with a variety of different surface decoration techniques using coloured slips, stains and different tools to create sgraffito, textures and patterns. You will be able to practise your designs and the shown techniques onto clay tiles before decorating your pieces.

This workshop is the perfect experience to gift to a loved one or enjoy the day with friends and embrace some time to yourself getting creative.

The size of your finished and fired pots will be as follows:

Stem vase: H20cm x W6cm

Planter Pot: H8.5cm x W10cm

Small tealight/plant pot: H4.5cm x W8cm

Cost: £85 per person
