Friday Twilight - How to Build a Spitfire: An illustrated talk by David Price

In 2018 recently, retired builder and aviation author David Price took on one of the biggest tasks of his life; to build a full-sized Spitfire replica.

Hear his story in this highly engaging presentation that walks his audience through each stage of the construction. The talk also references the story of the real Supermarine Spitfire and how this build throws light on how they were designed and built.

Also meet Caroline Spiers, daughter of Rita Baines a female pilot in the Air Transport Auxiliary during WW2. After discovering her mother's diaries and letters Caroline became fascinated by the story of the ATA especially the women's stories. Hear some of their accounts of flying the Spitfire, the favourite plane of almost every one of them.
