Anthropoid dramatises one of the key events of the Second World War, when the British Special Operations Executive and the Czech resistance undertook an operation to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich. Codenamed Anthropoid, their mission was to eliminate the third most powerful man in the Nazi Reich and principal architect of the Holocaust, striking a severe blow to the heart of the Nazi regime.
Cillian Murphy leads a strong cast including, Jamie Dornan, Toby Jones and Charlotte Le Bon, in Metro Manilla director Sean Ellis’ gripping account of wartime resistance.
Nazi regime’s reaction to Operation Anthropoid lead to a remarkarble piece in Stoke-on-Trent’s history, which can be seen in the preceding documentary, Lidice: A Light Across the Sea. This tells the story of the Ludice Shall Live Movement and city’s connection with the Czech village of Ludice. Admission to the documentary is free of charge.
