Details

The main lake at Westport Lake is the largest body of water in the city. The site also has a smaller lake, grassland, and a woodland conservation area. Westport Lake is well known for its water birds and is popular with walkers and anglers. The site was designated as a Local Nature Reserve in July 2004. There is also a children's play area, with an array of exciting play equipment. Coming soon! A new environmental visitor's centre.

This park has been improved through the Greening for Growth programme with the support of Advantage West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund. The Greening for Growth programme of environmental improvements was launched in 2003 and is the largest environmental regeneration programme in the West Midlands. Greening for Growth aims to create Well used and maintained landmark parks that offer more leisure opportunities and attract visitors to the area. A North Staffordshire network of safe, attractive off-road routes for pedestrians and cyclists. Canals, rivers and disused railways will link green spaces with homes, work places and leisure facilities, 28km of greenways will be created or upgraded. A landscape to be proud of where major transport routes and developments are set in interesting, high quality landscapes.

Westport Lake is open every day, there is 24 hour pedestrian access, and the car park is open 8am - dusk.

Main car park is off Westport Lake Road, Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. Leave the A500 at the Longport, Tunstall slip road. At the mini roundabout take first exit for Davenport Street, turn left into Westport Lake Road. It is also served by the Westport Greenway and the Trent & Mersey Canal.
